General and field officers : records, 1812-1816.

This ledger, from 1812-1816, has three sections. The first section is separated in numerical order by division. In turn, the division information is listed by brigade number, regiments composing the division, major generals for the division, staff officers, and counties that formed the division. The second section gives brigade numbers to which division it is attached, regiments, brigader generals, staff officers, and counties. The last section begins with regiment numbers, lists brigade to which it is attached and county from which the troops were raised. It also names lieuntants colonels and majors, their battalion number, and other staff officers.

Historical note: In 1792 the Kentucky General Assembly established the Kentucky Militia. The act required that all white males between the ages of eighteen and forty-five be enrolled in the militia, form companies, and participate in several musters each year. These companies could be called to active duty by the governor in case of war, insurrection, or danger to public safety.
